Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Giveaway!

MGM just released the 1968 family classic, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, on blu-ray DVD and to celebrate, Aubrey and I attended a special screening of the movie at The Grove in Los Angeles. Where we were treated to popcorn, drinks, a Scrumptious Sweet Co. candy bar and even got to see Dick Van Dyke and Sally Ann Howes (Truly Scrumptious) in person. To say it was a bit of a childhood dream come true would be an understatement.

Aubrey was thrilled beyond words (um, did you see these lollipop bushes mommy?) and is absolutely hooked on the tittle song. Even if she does pronounce it “Kitty Kitty Bang Bang” it’s music to my ears hearing her sing a song from my childhood.

We did end up leaving shortly after intermission (yes… there’s an intermission) because the movie is 144 minutes long – you do the math. My kid is three. But she really did love what she saw and now we own the new blu-ray DVD so we can watch the parts she likes the best, right at home. The DVD also has some great extras like a sing-along, interactive games, Sherman Brothers’ demos (the brilliant composers who wrote the music for this movie and other classics like Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book and The Aristocrats), Remembering Chitty Chitty Bang Bang with Dick Van Dyke and more.

It had been a loooong time since I had seen this movie and I think I like it even more now. So much fun and Dick Van Dyke really is a true icon. However, if you remember the scene when all the dogs run into the Scrumptious Sweet Company factory during the Toot Sweets number, I’m about 100% sure I saw a dog fall from the upper walkway in the background. I’m not kidding. I couldn’t stop thinking about it for the rest of the movie. Oy! OK… anyway… Now you need to get the DVD so you can see it, and…

Now you can! The good folks at MGM have given two copies of the new hi-def transfered blu-ray Chitty Chitty Bang Bang DVD for me to giveaway to my blog readers. Here’s how to enter the drawing – each one counts as an entry, but be sure to leave a separate comment for each action. It’s easier for me to count them this way:

1) Follow my blog on GFC
2) Leave a comment about a memory of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang OR tell me if you haven’t seen it yet!
3) Tweet this giveaway – here’s something you can copy and paste:
“Enter to win a blu-ray DVD of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on @TheAmyAnderson ‘s blog: http://tinyurl.com/29da6m7 HURRY Ends 11/7! Plz RT!”

Here’s the fine print, but I’ll actually leave it normal size so you can read it. If you remember this movie, then you’re OLD like me… This giveaway will end at midnight PST on Sunday, November 7, 2010. Two recipients will be chosen from the entries, using Random.org. A shipping address must be received from the recipient within 24 hours of notification or a new recipient will be chosen.

I was not compensated to write this review. I did receive copies of the DVD as a gift and giveaway items and attended a screening of the DVD to facilitate my review. So there.

Wendy's New PICK 2 Menu is Pretty Fab!
Wendy’s in Lawndale, CA… AHHHHH!!!

I’m not gonna lie… I haven’t been to Wendy’s in a while. Not because I dislike Wendy’s but mainly because my family and I don’t eat a lot of fast food. When I do, I’m on the road and other fast food chains are more common and easier to find. However, I do like Wendy’s and I think they are one of the best national fast food chains. They offer a wide variety of non-fried items and have for a long time. Long before the “healthy” craze hit the fast food industry, Wendy’s was offering baked potatoes, once had salad bars and of course, their signature chili. Also, their beef is never frozen and you can taste the difference.

This week, I was invited to try Wendy’s new Pick 2 Menu and I must say, I was really impressed and left Wendy’s happily full and satisfied. The Pick 2 Menu is a great way to portion control and save money if you eat out a lot. The Pick 2 menu is divided into two sections and you pick one item from each section to make your own combo. You can have a fulfilling lunch for only $4.99 going healthy one day, go for the grease the next time and mix it up on the days you want to.

I picked it!

The menus include items such as a cheeseburger, a cup of chili, a Frosty, a soda, French fries, a baked potato, Chicken Go Wraps and half servings of their premium salads and it’s actually possible to make 28 different combinations in all!

I treated myself to a cup of chili and the new Apple Pecan Chicken Salad and I LOVED IT! The chili has been consistent for years. It was a good portion but not too much and came with crackers but the salad! Oh the salad! It was really REALLY good – mixed field greens (not just iceberg lettuce), grilled chicken, diced red and green apples, cranberries, roasted pecans, blue cheese crumbles and a pomegranate vinaigrette. My friend, Marsha (aka SweatpantsMom), had the BLT Cobb Salad and it looked equally as yum.

Can you tell I’m left handed?

At this point, I want to disclose that I worked with Wendy’s and TheMotherhood.com and I received a small stipend to try the Pick 2 Menu.I know there is a fair amount of debate in the bloggersphere about whether a blogger will write a fair review if they are receiving compensation. Listen, I’m not blowing sunshine up your fast food hole. I get paid whether I write something nice or not and I have no motivation to lie about the food. It really was good and I would definitely eat off the Pick 2 Menu again and tell other people about it. In fact, I’m telling you right now!

And here’s where YOU come in. Wendy’s and TheMotherhood.com gave me two $7 giftcards for a reader giveaway! $7 is enough to try the Pick 2 Menu and have an additional beverage or other treat. 🙂

Want to win one? There are three ways to enter and please leave contact information in your entries:

1) Leave a comment telling me your favorite menu item at Wendy’s!

Wubbzy Goes To School! Like... WOW!

About a year ago, my preschool aged daughter started watching this hyper little cartoon on Nick, Jr called, Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! And yes, there are really three exclamation points in the title!!!

Widget, Wubbzy & Walden

Wubbzy is a rectangular little guy with a gender ambiguous voice (my nanny and I debated for days over whether Wubbzy was a girl or a boy) who lives in Wuzzleburg with his pals, Widget, Walden and Daizy. They navigate their way through different challenges and adventures, often facing similar developmental and social issues as the preschoolers who are watching.

At the time, I kind of disliked the show because it was, well, really hyper. Aubrey was only two at the time and it was playing right before her bed time. I felt like it got her a bit too riled up, so I would usually change the channel.

Now, as the worldly three year old that Aubrey is, she understands and associates the messages in the story lines and we both can appreciate more of the humor in Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! I stopped changing the channel and we both really like this show. In short: it’s cute and teaches some good lessons.

Aubrey and I got the opportunity to screen a copy of Wubbzy’s brand-spankin’-new DVD from Bolder Media, Inc and Anchor Bay Entertainment called, Wubbzy Goes To School! This new DVD hit the shelves on August 3rd which was perfect timing for us as we are getting geared up for Aubrey’s first full week in preschool. You’ll have a chance to win a copy of the DVD at the end of this post, so read on my literate friends!

The new DVD features six episodes, including: “Who Needs School?,” “New Kid On The Block,” “Gotta Dance,” “Wubbzy The Star,” “You Gotta Have Art” and “Magic Tricks”. After viewing the DVD a couple times, I asked Aubrey which episode she liked best and she said, “The dancing one!” Aubrey will take any opportunity to cut a rug and she actually did the “Wubbzy Wiggle” for her pediatrician at her 3 yr check up in June. So… there you go.

The DVD also features bonus features such as “Meet Wubbzy’s Schoolmates” photo gallery and coloring and activity sheets. Wubbzy Goes To School!  is in stores and on Amazon.com now. It has a run time of 70 minutes and a suggested retail price of $16.98. If you have little ones (3-6yrs) heading off to school, either for the first time or as a returning student, this is a really fun video to get them geared up for a great year of learning and growing!

And now, it’s time for a giveaway! If you would like a chance to win a free copy of the new Wubbzy Goes To School! DVD, you have five different ways to enter but you must leave a separate comment for each entry:

1) Follow me publicly on Google Friend Connector (even if you’re already following, it counts, so leave a comment).
2) Follow me on Twitter: @TheAmyAnderson

3) Tweet this contest & include the specific Tweet URL. (Instructions on how to do that are here.):

“Enter to win a “Wubbzy Goes To School” DVD from @TheAmyAnderson! WOW! Plz RT http://tinyurl.com/27kv73w ”

4) “Like” the Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! fan page on Facebook
5) “Like” my fan page on Facebook

Small print/Super fast announcer guy voice: This contest will close on September 12, 2010 and is open to US residents only. All entries must include a valid email in order to be counted. One recipient will be chosen using www.Random.org and winner must respond within 48 hours of notification or they forfeit the prize and a new recipient will be selected.

Good luck and please come back soon!

The opinions expressed in this review and on this blog are solely my own. I was not compensated to write this post and I did receive a screener copy of the DVD to facilitate my review.
